The price

Service What it does Treatments Starts at Typical total
Fire ant control Targeted yard treatment for full elimination 2 $49 About $98

Starting price is a smaller lot. The treatment covers the yard, not only the mounds you can see.

Why two treatments and not one

The mound is the part you can see. The colony under it can run several feet down and sideways, and a single colony can have more than one entrance, which is why stomping a mound in the evening gets you three new ones by the weekend. Killing foragers on the surface does nothing to the queen, and the queen is the colony.

The first treatment goes after the colony. The second catches what moved, what was too deep, and any neighbor colony that migrated into the space you just cleared. Two is what it takes to actually be done.

Why the store bait keeps not working

A bag of granules from the hardware store is not a bad product. The problem is coverage and timing. Broadcast bait has to be fresh, it has to go down when ants are actively foraging and not on wet ground, and it has to cover the whole yard rather than the six mounds you noticed. Most people put it on the mounds. That treats the doorway, not the house.

Two treatments costs more than one bag. It costs less than a summer of bags and a yard your kid still cannot walk barefoot in.

What changes the price

  • Lot size. Measured before we quote. Treatment covers the whole yard.
  • How heavy it is. A yard with mounds every few feet is a different job than one with four along the fence line.
  • What is next door. If the pasture behind you is full of them, they will keep pushing back in. We will tell you that before you pay rather than after.

Around dogs and kids

Fire ants are the reason most people call us in the first place, usually after somebody got stung in their own yard. We use biological products and we will give you the re-entry instructions for the specific product before we treat, not after.

What we do not do: Fire ants are the only ant we treat on this plan. Termites, bed bugs and wildlife are somebody else’s job and we will say so.
