Priceville grew 32 percent in ten years, and the lawns show it
Between the 2010 and 2020 census Priceville went from 2,658 people to 3,512. That is a lot of new roofs for a town that size, and every new roof came with a graded lot and a pallet of sod. There is a proposed subdivision on the table now that would add another 774 homes, which would be close to half again as many houses as the town has.
Here is why a lawn company cares. Residents who spoke against that project brought up drainage. They are not wrong to. When you scrape a lot flat, run heavy equipment across it, then unroll sod on what is left, you get thin topsoil sitting on packed subsoil, and water has nowhere to go but sideways. Sideways water grows nutsedge, and nutsedge is not a broadleaf weed, so the stuff in the jug at the hardware store does nothing to it.
What new sod actually needs, and it is not more fertilizer
The instinct on a struggling new lawn is to feed it. On a two year old Priceville yard that is usually the wrong first move. Push a lot of nitrogen into grass whose roots are sitting in four inches of topsoil and you get top growth the roots cannot support, and then it browns the first hot week in July.
Core aeration first, at $110, so the roots have somewhere to go. Then feed it. That order is boring and it is the whole difference on a young lawn.

Common questions
Is Priceville far enough out that you charge extra? No. You are on the Decatur route. Same prices.
My lawn is two years old and looks worse than it did the first year. That is the normal shape of new sod on a graded lot. Aerate, then get on a schedule. It usually turns in the second full season.
What kills nutsedge? A sedge specific product, not a broadleaf killer. It is one of the more common calls we get out of the newer subdivisions.
What we do not do
We do not mow, we do not install sod, and we do not do drainage or grading. If your yard has a genuine water problem that aeration will not fix, you need a dirt contractor and we will say so instead of selling you visits that cannot solve it.
Our agronomy comes from the Alabama Extension office for Morgan County and the state handbook IPM-0590. If you want to know what soil is under your own lot before anybody sells you anything, the USDA Web Soil Survey is free and it works on a street address.
